Some observations about ChromeOS on a Chromebook.

The operating system ChromeOS (a derivative of ChromiumOS) is based on Linux (a UNIX mimic, Gentoo) made compatible with mainstream hardware. The view manager (a.k.a. window manager or WM) is an HTM interpreter, thereby a potential for scripting (with JavaScript) the interface, perhaps much like StumpWM does with Common Lisp. The main approach for modifications is by means of extensions for Chrome, the Internet doc browser. So far, there is no direct way for affecting view management system-wide, just in Chrome itself.

The Settings program

I would like to re-categorize and rearrange the options in the Settings program.

My personal opinion is anything to do with so-called "Accessibility" or "Universal Access" and such ought to be reframed as personalizing, t.i. customizing for personal comfort. Most recently (2025Sep09) I have been gravitating towards the word "comfort", while before I have often used "personalization" which has felt rather wieldy to speak and type.

I would combine much of the options found in the current categories of Device, "Wallpaper and style", and Accessibility. Probably a name along the lines of comfort or personalization.

Another regrouping would be Network, Bluetooth, and "Connected devices". Probably a name along the lines of connectivity or communication, specifically with other devices regardless of cables or cordless or wireless.
